Bill, Tarheel born and bred, has lived his life in North Carolina, except for three years in Japan, compliments of the U.S. Navy. Durham has been home since 1960.

Firm experience includes Bailey, Self, Harris, and Company (20+ years), William E. Self, a proprietorship, and Self & Associates, CPAs, PC, formed in 2002. Early experience includes a full range of accounting, tax, and management services. Since 1997, concentration has been in tax and related activities.

Professional activities: North Carolina Association of CPAs - Director, Treasurer, and President (1980-1981); NC State Board of CPA Examiners - Member, Secretary / Treasurer, and Vice President; American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Member of Council and National Trial Board.

A believer in supporting one's community, Bill has served many local organizations with leadership roles in the Durham Jaycees, American Red Cross, Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, Tobaccoland Kiwanis Club, Durham Regional Hospital Board of Trustees, and Willowhaven Country Club.

Husband of Barbara, father of Suzi Caudill and Scott Self, Bill enjoys activities with six grandchildren.
